GARLIC BREAD

Garlic bread is a savory dish made by spreading butter, garlic, and sometimes herbs and cheese onto slices of bread, which are then baked or grilled until crispy and golden. Enjoyed as a side dish, appetizer, or snack, garlic bread is known for its rich, aromatic flavor and satisfying crunch.

Its origins trace back to Italian cuisine, specifically a dish called “bruschetta” from ancient Rome, where grilled bread was rubbed with garlic and drizzled with olive oil to enhance flavor. Italian immigrants brought this concept to America, where it evolved into the garlic bread we know today by adding butter and occasionally herbs and cheese, becoming a beloved staple in American-Italian cuisine.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon active yeast
  • 2-3 tablespoon of olive oil- you can use any other oil or melted butter

  • 1 cup luke warm water- You can add water as required for the dough.
  • 2 tablespoon finely chopped garlic
  • 2 tablespoon finely chopped coriander leaves
  • 2 teaspoon salt

  • Place it into a working surface, i kept over a baking sheet so that it will be easy to transfer into baking sheet.
  • Then flatten the dough and add garlic coriander mixture and spread it over the flattened bread surface.
  • Fold the dough and flatten the bread again.
  • After 2nd part of flattening the dough, add 1 teaspoon of garlic coriander mixture ,1/2 teaspoon of ground pepper, 1/4 teaspoon of salt and again flatten the dough and roll it. Repeat it 2 more times so that the dough will be soft.
  • If you like more spicy you can add the amount of ground pepper.

5. Second rise

  • After making it into roll keep the dough covered and leave it to rise for another 1 hour.

6. Baking

  • After second rise make few cut marks in the dough and transfer into a baking tray.
  • Bake the bread in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until it’s golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
